(December, 2009) Now, roofing contractors can get superior performance in an earth-friendly sealant, with Franklin International’s new Titebond® WeatherMaster™ Metal Roof Sealant.
WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant is a special advanced polymer formula that categorically outperforms conventional sealants made of silicone, tripolymer or polyurethane. It readily extrudes and adheres in extreme weather conditions, including temperatures as low as zero degrees. This versatile sealant works on most common building materials – but stands out for its ability to adhere to Kynar™-coated metals. In addition, when using water-based paint, the contractor can paint WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant three hours after application, wasting no time in completing the roofing job.
Once applied, WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant continues to perform exceptionally well. It creates a permanently flexible, watertight seal that is UV-resistant. High solids content of 99 percent ensures that this sealant will not shrink over time. It also is designed to resist severe heat and cold through the years, with a broad service temperature range of -75 degrees F. to 350 degrees F.
For all of its powerful performance characteristics, WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant also has earned the Titebond GREENchoice™ insignia, indicating that it meets the highest standards for environmental safety. With a negligible VOC content of less then 9 g/L (less than two percent of weight), WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant is well below VOC regulations established by LEED or other green building organizations. Roofers are not exposed to hazardous ingredients or an unpleasant odor when using. WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant comes in a sturdy plastic cartridge that is less prone to bursting than fiber cartridges and can be recycled to further reduce its impact upon the earth.
WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant also will introduce the new, three-and-one-half-inch, detachable nozzle, which screws onto a pre-cut nub, on cartridges. The new nozzle adds three-quarters of an inch to the standard, non-removable nozzle and can more easily reach into tight areas. Additionally, the contractor can effortlessly change out the detachable nozzle with other nozzles if desired. The pre-cut nub spares contractors the hassle of inaccurate slicing on the job site.
“Franklin International has led the way in the development of green adhesives and sealants that also offer our customers superior performance characteristics,” said David Braun, manager of market development, Construction Division, at Franklin International. “Our new WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant is in keeping with our goal to provide the best adhesive and sealant technologies for contractors while also providing them guidance in the use of truly earth-friendly products.”
Franklin introduces WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant as metal roofs climb in popularity. Use of metal roofs in both residential new-construction and re-roofing markets has more than doubled over the last decade. Attractive new designs and finishes, durability, energy efficiency and recyclability are all factors in the increased installation of metal roofs.
Titebond WeatherMaster Metal Roof Sealant is available in 10.1-ounce cartridges, 20-ounce sausage packs and five- or 55-gallon drums. (Drums are available by special order only.) Cartridges are available in 50 colors; 20- ounce sausage packs are available in 10 colors.
