Titebond Introduces the First Elastomeric Sealant with 100% Joint Movement

Titebond® DuraMaster™ is the first elastomeric sealant that can handle 100% joint movement without compromising adhesion – and the first to achieve the highest ASTM C-920 rating for sealant performance, Class 100/50

Titebond adds to its long list of innovative, market-leading products with the addition of DuraMaster, the first water-based elastomeric sealant with 100% joint movement capability.

DuraMaster has earned the highest ASTM C-920 rating for sealant performance, Class 100/50. The rating affirms that DuraMaster can handle movement of 100% expansion and 50% contraction – making it resilient enough to handle high amounts of movement.

Titebond DuraMaster Sealant

Typical elastomeric sealants are developed to handle movement of 25% of the original joint size and are rated Class 25 – the minimum rating for handling a moderate amount of movement. Movement occurs with expansion and contraction of building materials due to temperature changes, settling, seismic events and wind. DuraMaster performs four times better than Class 25 sealants and can handle everything from moderate to maximum movement, ensuring joint durability under the toughest conditions. (DuraMaster clear formulation is Class 25.)

Meeting the Class 100/50 specification establishes DuraMaster as the ultimate water-based elastomeric sealant, with proven superior performance features to meet contractors’ tough demands for lasting durability. It stays permanently flexible and is crackproof, ensuring that the sealant expands and contracts with temperatures changes. Like all Titebond construction adhesives and sealants, DuraMaster is developed first and foremost for pro use, including special packaging features such as the removable nozzle.

Contractors can use DuraMaster for interior and exterior applications, such as windows, doors, trim, and siding. It offers superior adhesion to most common building materials including: vinyl, metal, glass, wood, PVC, concrete, aluminum and all types of siding. This advanced sealant will span even large gaps, up to two inches wide.

For all of its power, DuraMaster is developed for easy tooling and water cleanup. It is available in 13 colors and is paintable. With a VOC content of less than 50 g/L, the industry’s most durable sealant also is VOC compliant.

“We are extremely excited to offer DuraMaster to contractors who are committed to superior construction quality,” said Mark Schroeder, Titebond’s vice president of marketing. “It takes its place among our most outstanding products; it is the ultimate sealant in its product category. We’re proud of that and of our ability to give construction pros the ideal sealant to get the job done, faster and better.”

DuraMaster is sold in 10.1-ounce cartridges. It is available now on Amazon and soon at building supply and hardware stores. Additional information is available at www.titebond.com.
