Although sold in the pail, the four .75-gallon pouches inside offer an innovative alternative to the traditional application method. Instead of scooting a pail across the floor as the installation progresses, the installer simply positions the pouches across the installation area based upon expected yield per pouch. (One pouch of Titebond 771-Step covers 49 square feet when used as an adhesive alone and 27 square feet when applied as an all-in-one system.) They make their way from pouch to pouch as the job proceeds.
The pouch is easy to open and less messy to apply. The installer merely snips the tail on the pouch, squeezes out the adhesive, then spreads and trowels it. Adhesive placement is precise, resulting in quicker, more uniform spreading.
The pouch size also reduces adhesive waste – and cost. The weather-resistant pouch packaging keeps the adhesive fresh, resulting in longer shelf life and easier spreading and troweling. In addition, the pouch size results in less unused product that would otherwise skin or go to waste.
Titebond 771-Step pouches in the pail are available at select Lowe’s stores, specialty flooring retailers and building supply stores. The product also is available in 20-oz. sausage packs and in conventional 3.5-gallon pails.
