Franklin Unites Expertise in Flooring Adhesives and Moisture Control Technology in New Titebond 771-Step

(December, 2012) Titebond 771-Step offers professional flooring contractors the convenience of simultaneously applying both an adhesive and a concrete moisture control system. And, Titebond 771-Step takes convenience one step further through an advanced polymer formulation that is easy to trowel on and clean up and offers powerful green grab, holding flooring firmly in place once it is seated into the wet adhesive. It also cures very quickly, reducing overall installation time and enabling contractors to move on to the next job.

Powerful green grab quickly builds into a strong, yet very flexible, bond that can be used on a variety of flooring substrates. Versatile Titebond 771-Step is ideal for use with certain solid wood flooring types, bamboo, cork and engineered hardwood flooring – as well as plywood, marble and stone inlays in either residential or commercial applications – in above, on and below-ground installations.

Franklin International developed its line of moisture control products, including 771-Step, as a simple, affordable solution to moisture-related problems in wood flooring installations. Moisture vapor from concrete slabs is the leading cause of water-related damage in wood floors, including unsightly buckling, cupping, discoloration or separation from the subfloor. Like all Titebond concrete moisture control products, Titebond 771-Step can reduce the moisture vapor transmission rate from concrete subfloors by 75 percent to 90 percent and is fully warranted against related moisture damage to wood flooring when used as recommended. It can be applied over subfloors with moisture up to 12 lbs. per a calcium chloride test.

Contractors who favor the conventional method of applying a moisture control primer and adhesive individually can still turn to Titebond products for innovative two-step solutions. Franklin offers both Titebond 531 Moisture Control System and the new Titebond 531 Plus Moisture Control System, which cures in only one and one-half to two hours. The company also developed Titebond 571 Sound and Moisture Control System for on-grade and above-grade concrete floors. Contractors can use these proven products with select Titebond flooring adhesives, including Titebond 811 Advantage, Titebond 821 Premium or Titebond 771-Step.

With a VOC content less than 50 g/L during cure, Titebond 771-Step joins a number of Titebond flooring products in earning Franklin’s GREENchoice designation for environmental friendliness. All of these products meet VOC regulations established by LEED, Green Globes Design Standard and the National Association of Homebuilders’ National Green Building Standard.

Titebond 771-Step is available in 3.5-gallon pails through distributors of flooring and building products. More information on this and other Titebond flooring products is available at www.titebond.com.
