For perfect plywood edging, cut it extra-wide

Despite your best efforts, solid-wood edging will slide around after you apply glue and then clamp it to the edge of a plywood shelf or panel. To make things easier on yourself, cut the edging about â…›" wider than the thickness of the shelf. Then, you’ll have a little extra material top and bottom that you can rout perfectly flush using a flush-trim bit. (Don’t try to sand the edging flush – in a heartbeat you could go through the thin top veneer on most plywoods.)
